Woman Capital is managed by three very experienced women:

Mr. C. (Carien) van der Laan MBA

Carien was born in The Netherlands but immigrated to the US with her family at age five. She attended primary and secondary school in DeWitt, New York and then returned to Holland shortly after graduating from High School. There she studied Dutch law and received her law degree from the University of Utrecht in 1973. After a number of years working as a solicitor and company lawyer, she returned to the US to do a Masters in Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. After graduation she went to work for McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam and has since spent her career in both consultancy (McKinsey, Stratix, Verbeek de Vries van der Laan) and in various corporate positions: National Sales Manager at GE Information Services, Businessline Manager at KPN, Managing Director of Versatel Nederland. Carien was also one of the Founders and corporate officer of the European- American Call Center Company ClientLogic.

Carien is member of the Harvard European Leadership Council, and for many years member of the Harvard Business School Club of The Netherlands, of which the last fifteen as President. She was member of the Board of Media Plaza from 1996-1999, and member of the Supervisory Board of Computer Broker Exchange.

B. (Bercan) Günel

Bercan was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey and studied Business Administration at the Bosphorus University in that city. She worked as a specialist in finance and accountancy at Arthur Andersen, first in Istanbul, Turkey, and from 1989 in Amsterdam, promoted from audit assistant to senior auditor to audit manager. In 1996 she became Manager Finance and Facilities for the broadcasting company Nozema. Thereafter she consulted for local Dutch governments with Coopers & Lybrand. Bercan spent two years as Managing Director and shareholder at Interboor Nederland BV and was able to turn the company around. In 2001 she became CFO at Brunel International NV, a listed temp agency with 3500 employees worldwide. Most recently she was Founder and Managing Director of Schoevers Professionals, a recruitment company start-up.

    Bercan Günel


J. (Jacqueline) Levisson

In 1981 she started her career at one of the top international accounting firms as secretary to the Head of Personnel and the Head of Social Affairs in the Central Personnel Department. In 1990 she changed her role within the company to regional personnel consultant and in the evenings she studied workforce politics and personnel policies. Thereafter she spent a number of years at diverse companies (profit, non-profit and media) in the role of Human Resource manager. She changed course in 2001, trading in her career in Human Resources for an all round office management position in the area of education and later at a company that carried out inspections in the building corporation industry.
In May 2007 she  came to Woman Capital to enhance the team and specifically to provide support as personal assistant to Bercan Günel, co-founder Woman Capital.
