'She is not one of us'' She might have a great resumé, excellent references, and a 100% match with the required experience, vision and motivation and still be passed over for the top position. Primarily because she is not part of the old boys network and therefore quite outside of current management's comfort zone. However good, she is just not one of the boys. At a different company she is appointed a top position. As one of us. She strengthens the Board with her creative approach, with other complementary qualities and a more balanced perspective. And that pays off in better contacts with business partners, greater rapport with shareholders and in a stimulating company culture. Diversity for an organization- especially
at the top - is of strategic importance and leads to improved performance.
