'There is no glass ceiling'
Not for men at any rate. For them is the sky the limit when it comes to the accessibility of top positions. The reality for many women, however, is that the career ladder does not reach all the way to the top. Top positions are not or almost never achievable. Women find themselves up against a glass ceiling of biased thinking and out of date perceptions. At a certain point they stop trying to fit in. Companies desiring the best brains and most talented managers for their businesses are working to remove the existing barriers. So that equal opportunity becomes the rule rather than the exception for top management functions, and women are appointed to the positions for which they are qualified. Diversity for an organization- especially
at the top - is of strategic importance and leads to improved performance.
